Cliff's Backcountry Reports

Lake Angeles (June 6)

Here is a great hike and fishing too. A short 3.7 miles on good trail and close to home. A 2200 ft. climb on an easy 1 1/2 hr. hike. The view of the mountains and lake are spectacular but fly fishing is limited unless you take a float tube to get away from shore. Kinda brushy but there are a 1/2 dozen places you can cast from if you don't mind pushing thru the trees to get to an open area. There is water on the lower section of the trail but limited till you get to the lake. Most all the snow was off the lake and will be totally clear in days. You should try it if you haven't already.

Boulder Lake (June 12)

Hiked to Boulder lake yesterday, found lots of snow and lake covered over. Will be about 3 more weeks before the lake will be ice free most likely. The trail is clear all the way to the lake with some snow just before the lake and no down trees this year. A good hike.
